Claude Monet was a leading figure of the nineteenth century Impressionist movement, which takes its name from his painting, Impression, Sunrise (1872). Among other subjects, Monet was known for his landscapes of Paris and Normandy and his beautiful studies of flowers, as well as approximately 250 incredible oil paintings of water-lilies.
