Walter Spies: Balinese Landscape (Foiled Journal)
Created by Flame Tree Studio
Part of a series of exciting and luxurious Flame Tree Notebooks. Combining high-quality production with magnificent fine art, the covers are printed on foil in five colours, embossed, then foil stamped. And they're powerfully practical: a pocket at the back for receipts and scraps, two bookmarks and a solid magnetic side flap. These are perfect for personal use and make a dazzling gift. This example features Walter Spies: Balinese Landscape.
Walter Spies was a Russian-born German painter. In 1923 he moved to Indonesia, where he lived, adored by locals, until his untimely death caused by a Japanese bomb. The Balinese landscape on the cover is one of many of Spies’ paintings that are now credited with promoting Indonesia and its culture to the Western world.
