This pattern originally featured on a lacquer box decorated by the lesser-known artist Uematsu Hobi. The box itself is decorated with blossoming chrysanthemums and the poem, tsuyu no ma ni, the letters of which are embedded in silver. The background and edges are sprinkled with gold powder and portions of the blossoms and leaves on the top of the box are repeated on the sides.
